Transforming the sports and entertainment media industry by providing exclusive access, fostering collaborative learning, and inspiring impactful storytellers.
MEDIA SCHOLARS PROGRAM
The Media Scholars Program, led by Dr. Chantelle George and run through CG Consulting, is designed to open doors for students aspiring to careers in sports and entertainment media—especially those from underserved backgrounds. The program offers immersive, hands-on experience: scholars shadow media professionals, work behind the scenes at large-scale events, produce real content, interview athletes, and build portfolios while gaining exposure to real industry settings. Key features include networking with media partners, mentorship by staff and peers, discipline-focused cohorts such as videography, photography, broadcast journalism, and content creation, along with community engagement through partnerships with higher education institutions and media organizations. For example, one initiative had 17 college scholars working in tandem with the NFL for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, giving them rare access to media operations, storytelling opportunities, and professional development during one of the world’s major sporting events.
Started with Super Bowl LIX 2025.
At Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, CGC’s Media Scholars Program gave 17 college students exclusive behind-the-scenes access to NFL events and media operations. The program focused on exposure, mentorship, and content creation, equipping scholars with valuable experience and connections in the sports media industry. We are now expanding to more events - in and out of sports media - to make the Media Scholars Program a mainstay for bright adults spearheading careers in media and journalism.
The Media Scholars Program gave students hands-on media experience at major New Orleans events, including the French Quarter Festival, UFC fights, the U.S. Gymnastics Championships, and the HBCU Legacy Bowl. Scholars captured behind-the-scenes content, highlighted athletes and performers, and documented cultural experiences, building diverse portfolios and gaining valuable industry exposure.
